I have this valve spring compressor and it works on all engines if you make a spacer and get a longer bolt at the hardware store. I made my spacer from some round 4130 I got from Aircraft Spruce, this is their part number 03-02900. I used a chop saw with a metal cutting blade and cut the spacer to 0.600. Got a longer bolt at the local Ace Hardware and installed the spacer between the handle and the compressor adaptor. Works great.

Did the job OK on my parallel valve 0 360 but it was difficult to start compressing the valve spring on reassembly. The curved piece that sits on and compresses the valve spring cap tends to push the cap off center from the valve stem making it difficult to center the cap on the valve stem. The angle seems too steep. On first contact the spring has to be compressed by hand to achieve alignment before fully compressing the cap to insert the Collets

This valve spring compressor does not work on an angled valve 0-470K in my Cessna 180. The geometry is wrong and the tool lugs are too short to compress the valve springs. I spoke to the tool manufacturer an they are looking at making an adapter for the 0-470 angled valve engines.

Perfect Continental Type Single Valve Spring Compressor. Very simple device that accomplishes a more complicated task to remove the valve springs while at the same time maintaining a closed valve. Often necessary to perform this task when removing a single stuck valve to burnish the stem and clear the valve guide of carbon buildup on a small Continental engine.

Does a good job of releasing and applying valve spring tension for valve removal/installation.

Worked great but I gave it 4 stars because it was missing the small bar when it came. I had to make my own by cutting a nail head off.

I’m not sure what the 1/2” steel rod was for. There was no way to use it on a TSIO 360. I bought a thin wall steel tube from Lowe’s and drilled two holes to attach it to the rocker bolts. That worked as the fulcrum for the tool.

Great tool, it just did not fit the Continental O-520 valves we had. Solid construction and heavy duty steel.

This tool is great, if you can modify things here and there. Also, DOES NOT work with O470- A, E, and J as advertised. Works great with small bore continental and various Lycomings.

Will not work as received on O200-D engine. The round bar supplied to insert in the rocker shaft bosses is 11 mm, too large to allow the tool to fully move upward and start compressing the springs. I used an 8mm piece of stock I had lying around. A hefty screwdriver will also work.

Well built tool but only fits smaller cylinders. Compression forks do not extend far enough for larger bore cylinders. Did not fit my O-470-R. Description should add engine compatibility chart or usable distance range between rocker shaft center and valve center to help guide purchasers.

This will work on some engines but did not work on my Continental 0-470-11. Mentioned that it could need an adapter for some applications but as far as I can tell the adapter is not made or not available. Ended up borrowing a friends old Gibson Aviation GS121 that will work on anything.
