MITCHELL AMMETER 60-0-60 PMA 12/14V

Quality instrument at a good price.

This is a good quality instrument. However I’m giving it three stars because it is not made by Michell but rather made by VDO and relabeled, they use a cheap sticker on the face to cover the VDO. On mine the sticker was off and loose in the housing. It also is set back so deeply into the housing that it makes seeing the instrument from an angle difficult. I was disappointed. I think I will save up and install the EI volt/Amp gauge.

Would not fit without extensive panel modifications.

Oops. Wont do that again. What was I thinking buying a 60 dollar gauge for aircraft??? This gauge looks bad right out of the box with the needle pivot off to one side, and the needle slightly to the right to make up the difference. Poor finish for sure. Wont be in my dash, guess maybe its time to fess up some dollars and go to digital gauge James H

Q: Does this require a shunt? What size if so? Regarding part number 10-25115.

These Mitchell ammeters have their own internal shunt.

Q: Does the Mitchell ammeter come in a 24 volt version?

Ammeters only measure amps and so can be connected to 12 or 24 volts.

Q: Is the Mitchell Ammeter FAA PMA approved?

Yes, this part is FAA PMA approved.

Q: Does this ammeter need a sender unit of any sort?

No as it has an internal shunt you do not need a sender.

Q: Does this Mitchell ammeter have internal lighting?

Yes, this has an internal 12v light bulb.

Q: Where does this Mitchell ammeter get wired to? Does it have to be hooked up to the alternator?

Per the manufacturer you will have a connection for power and ground, the sender and lighting.

Q: Is this part approved for Cessna 172M?

The ammeter is FAA PMA approved for use in certified aircraft. It does not have an AML with approved models. It is at the discretion of the A&P installer as to whether the installation is legal.

Q: One of the questions was about 12v and 24v versions. While the ammeter may not care about voltage, the lighting might. Does the light handle any voltage?

The voltage also is in regard to the lighting in the unit, but this is an incandescent bulb and would be hooked up to the lighting bus in your aircraft.

Q: Is this MITCHELL AMMETER 60-0-60 FAA-PMA approved for Cessna 150?

This product is FAA PMA meaning it is acceptable for install in certified aircraft but does not have a specific aircraft eligibility list. This should be ok but we always recommend consulting with your A&P before installing any item in a certified airplane.
