The PFD screen displays the ADAHRS data: Air Data, Attitude, Heading Reference System
The HSI screen display: Current position, Heading Distance, Direction, Radials relative to reference navigation points, Approximate wind data.

Your Navigation back-up!

The AvMap Ultra also provides navigation back-up: in the HSI screen you can select from the preloaded Jeppesen Database an Airport, a VOR station or NDB transmitter as your navigation point.

The Ultra EFIS contains an internal world magnetic model that allows it to calculate the local magnetic deviation and dip. The Ultra EFIS can calculate current position and ground speed even in the absence of GPS.

Hello, here is a recent review -June 2021. This is an amazing unit encompassing 9 instruments in one. Easy to set up, great graphics, easy to install, extremely lightweight and user friendly. I’ve evaluated Garmin products and have a few thousand hours with Garmin and in my opinion (12K hours and counting) is the same quality with an amazing lower price than big name avionic brands. For LSA & Experimental only though and I’m going to buy a second for additional peace of mind. The graphical RMI/HSI is better than any civil or military aircraft I’ve flown, and has capability to use both needle 1 (HSI) and needle 2 (RMI) for not only VOR or NDB but Airports too. You can have each on an separate airport or any combination of airport, VOR or NDB. Too, Avmap at some point added IAS and ALT to the graphical RMI page and this is great for situational awareness as a backup. Too it gives detailed info much more than a BDHI, RMI, HSI as the unit has its own GPS data combined so your awareness is very easy to see at a glimpse of common sense data vice clutter in competitors I’ve seen. This EFIS is great with added G meter (I wish it had a memory so you could know top positive and negative G during a flight but heck it’s great as is). Readout for all data both pages is well placed and like any solid piece of gear when you have a great product it shines above others. For the price, a no brainer! Easily adjust baro setting or brightness and takes a second to go from the EFIS PFD page to the RMI/HSI page. I Highly recommend this product! Outstanding!

Works as advertised. Simple to install and use. I have not married it to a autopilot yet but is should work just fine. Brings piece of mind to me if conditions rapidly deteriorated to imc in my rv6 with the AHRS option. Hsi page good for navigation too.

I haveowned one of these since 2015. It has worked perfectly . No comparison for the price . Company is excellent re queries etc. Updated regularly.A really complete unit. GPS , art. Horizon, speed , wind ,G force.alt. Output for auto pilot ,Etc etc. Easy installation.

Very easy to install, removed faulty d.g. and put in its place. Took under 2 hrs. Very cool little unit, highly recommend! Love having mag heading or track. Nav, gmeter, upper winds etc all great toys

Q: Can this AvMap Ultra EFIS be the primary PFD for an experimental aircraft? Can it drive an auto pilot? Or should I think of this as backup EFIS only?

Avmap recommends this EFIS as a backup instrument. It is not capable of driving an auto pilot as of 8/27/15.

Q: I like the size of this Avmap Ultra EFIS. I am wanting a back-up EFIS, but I would also like to feed my Garmin GTN750 into the HSI. Can I do this? I am fully aware that it has its own GPS, but I would like to feed it with the certified GPS for IFR.

No, you cannot. The Avmap Ultra is only approved for use in experimental aircraft. IFR GPS backup is not available. See part number 10-05081 for an approved backup attitude indicator.

Q: Does the Jeppesen database preloaded on the Avmap Ultra EFIS include Australian data?

Unit is preloaded with North America Jeppesen POIs (APT, VOR, NDB). Other coverages (Europe-Africa, South America, Asia-Australia) can be ordered from AvMap.

Q: Does this unit have an internal battery that will operate the efis in the event of an external power failure?

This unit does not include an internal back-up battery.

Q: Will this device work as an encoder for Stratus transponder 11-14466?

No, this cannot be used as an encoder.

Q: Can this be installed in a Citabria for instrument training?

No, this is intended for use in experimental aircraft only.

Q: Is the Avmap Ultra considered a portable device?

No, this unit is installed in the panel.

Q: Got to ask, with it's NMEA 183 output I presume it can drive an auto-pilot?

The Ultra EFIS comes with 2 RS232 connections both can be enabled for sending out data to external devices (autopilot).

Q: Is the GPS receiver included with the Avmap Ultra EFIS?

Yes, the GPS receiver is included with part # 11-12004

Q: Does the AvMap Ultra EFIS include the harness?

No, the harness is not included with part # 11-12004. Only includes a 1.5 meter cable
