Shock Cord Ring 11104

April 20, 2024

I purchased this for my Soloflex. It works great. I probably should have ordered a little bit bigger or smaller. Probably smaller. Now I have to adjust the free floating bar to take up for the slack. With the purchase of another load pin, I am able to use these in conjunction with the Soloflex shock rings I have from the Soloflex company. Its too bad they ceased operations in 2023. I believe I have the 9 inch rings from Aircraft Spruce. I probably would have been better off going with the 8 or 10 inch rings. 8 probably would have been better.

Q: How do you measure the ring size of the shock cord rings? We need a replacement cord for a 1941 Klemm 35D and have original sizes in mm. Is the second size measured as diameter of the ring or when squeezed together? Is it the inner or outer length? Thank you Tobi

Here is an example: for part # 1080HD, the 10 is 10/16 of the cross section, and the 80 is 8" ID in a perfect circle.

Q: Does ring #1380 meet CAL-OSHA requirements?

Per the manufacturer, no it does not meet this. They have not heard of this requirement or been asked this question previously. They are not sure that it relates to aviation.

Q: What kind of rubber is used? NBR? Are these rings fuel and oil resistant?

These shock chords are made of natural rubber that is chemically blended with the manufactures reciepe. These are not fuel and oil resistant as this will break down the ring if you spill any on it.

Q: Would you please give the color date code so all of us will know how old our units are, a simple table in the Q&A will do. Thank you as always from us bouncy ones who have shock cord based landing gear.

Q: The stated value of TEST (LBS) refer to the weight supported by each chord?

Per the supplier: it is "Load at distance." However, they said in an aircraft application they will likely not reach that kinda of load.

Q: Does the stated load value relate to EACH cord? Yes or No.

Yes, there are priced and sold per bungie.
