Engine start up was much healthier than when using oil pan heater, which I will no longer use. I now recommend this heater to everyone. I love that this heater is built just for this purpose.

I’ve had this a week here in Reno. Outside Temps in the morning have been in the twenties. Cylinders and oil temps have been in the 50s so it is doing the job One issue, I have is the cowl on my aircraft (1964 Mooney M20c) does not allow me to insert the heater into the cowl, so the heater is sitting in front just behind the prop. I put an extra moving blanket on and clipped in tight around the prop. The back cylinders end up being a few degrees colder than fronts.

This device was not what I expected. When it arrived I read the instructions and put it back in the box without plugging it in. The instructions required the unit to be placed in the cold for an hour prior to being plugged in then to allow 48 hours of heating to bring the engine up to warmth. This would be fine if the heater was plugged in and if a continuous electrical supply was available. At least two airports here (PAMR, and PAAQ) have electric parking spots on 30 minute timers (30 on 30 off.) which would also limit heating particularly at sub-zero temperatures. I did like the dual redundancy concept.
