I installed these in my C182 about 7 years ago. They have served their purpose well and flawlessly for many years averaging two trips a month with fuel stops. They continue to work well and softly open the doors saving strain on both the door frame and the door stop, even in strong winds. I am pleased with these and several of my friends who also have C182s have installed them with similar results.

These perform exactly as expected. Be warned, the frame brackets are not going to be perfect out of the box. You WILL have to bend them to fit. However, other than that, the kit is very simple. Line it up, drill the holes, knock in the provided rivets, works like a dream. Im looking forward to testing the action in crosswind and durability, but love this so far.

We purchased one of these for the Right Hand side of our R182. It works as advertised and is helpful with passengers who do not know how light weight aircraft doors are on our sometimes windy tie down. We were surprised our shop billed us four hours for the installation of a single unit when the installation video we watched produced by an A&P estimated 40-45 minutes, so expensive lesson learned there.

When I got the aircraft I had to replace the left wing strut because the door had been hitting it for some time due broken door stay and had worn a groove beyond limits in the Strut. These have replaced the door stay and work perfectly .

These Door Stewards work great! They hold the doors open, you don’t have to worry about a gust of wind closing the door while your getting in and out of the airplane. They work much better than the factory door stops.

I vacillated between 4 and 5 stars. The product works extremely well on my Cessna 180. The only quibble I have has to do with fitting the airframe bracket. Bending it to the right angle causes some deformity in the bracket near the original 90 degree bend. It is not serious, but, if the bracket were opened up a bit initially, less bending would be required. Otherwise, this is a great replacement for the original clanger door stop that was not reliable and allowed the door to fly open too far or not stay open.

I have yet to install this on the right side but have already installed one on the left and it turned out perfectly. I am sure this one will be the same.

The door steward works great. The installation was easy enough. There is a YouTube video that helps a lot too. The door opening problems are now a thing of the past. I highly recommend the product.

Just happen to see the reviews on our product and wanted to respond to Ron and Petes review about having to bend the airframe bracket upon installation. Each model and even years vary slightly in that angle, there are a few that are actual 90 degress. It is just a minor customization needed for the variability of Cessnas manufacturing over the years. Nice kit. Good quality pieces. Nothing missing. Install was on an 81185. Per the video, which you should watch, the airframe bracket did need to be tweaked. No problem. Also needed to tweak the door bracket. In the process the paint cracked. Disappointing but it isnt very visible. Made the investment in some clecos and pliers. Certainly made the job easier. Would definitely recommend this for a nose high taildragger.

Good and easy install. My only complaint is the bracket that is attached to fuselage is bent at 90 degrees. Should be more like 75 degrees or 80. They warn you about it in the install and on the youtube clip they have on installation. Why did they not bend it the correct angle in the first place. Other than that it was a good experience.

These prevent the door from slamming open, but they are NOT sufficient to stop the door from hitting the strut. Any load at all on the door at max extension just bends the anchor point of the gas shock at the door opening, allowing the door to hit the strut anyway. The shocks are helpful, but a stronger stop is needed, so just rebuild the existing stops when putting the shocks on. Otherwise you will be buying new struts anyway. My $0.02

I purchased these to keep the door on my 172M open since the underwing clips were no longer doing their job. They work as advertised however, One of the gas struts may be bad. It slams the door open really fast. I have to hold the door until it is fully open to prevent possible damage to the hinges. The other side opens slow and controlled as you would expect. I recommend testing these thoroughly after installation to prevent damage to your door hinges.

Just installed as IA on a Cessna 175 Had to install countersunk cherry max rivets for extra clearance between door and door frame. Clean installation left the upper door holders in place because of the flex in the door at full open.
