Overview

For Experimental / LSA / Non-Certified Aircraft only.

The PM1200 is a two place panel mount intercom intended for use in open cockpit and extremely loud of aircraft.
  • Direct replacement for PM1000II series.
  • Reduces noise that is picked up by the microphone, dynamically reducing the background noise heard in the headset when the VOX is opened.
  • Audio amplifiers supply general aviation headset as much as 120 mW (almost twice that of our regular intercoms) in 28 volt aircraft.
  • Able to handle the noise of cockpits such as the P-51, B-17, PV-2, T-6, T-28, and the Pitts S2B/C
  • By a push of the Copilot volume control, the system will convert to VOX to PTT-ICS.
  • The unit can be used as either voice-activated, or push to talk intercommunications, by simply pushing a front panel switch.
  • Has an automatic fail-safe interconnect to the aircraft radio. If power to the intercom is disrupted, an internal relay will connect the pilot's headset to the aircraft radio.
  • The Blind Mount configuration option allows the installation of this intercom completely in the confines of the original equipment of the aircraft. You can keep your aircraft authentic while still having the best intercom available.

Removed the old intercom from my Skybolt and replaced it with the PM1200. With the old intercom, talking to the Pax was nearly impossible but with the PM 1200 the conversations are easy and with the volume at just below half.

Q: Does the PM1200 have solder connections (?) or does it have to be used with the very expensive Amp Crimp tool. Called PS Engineering they thought the connection could be soldered too. Can you verify before I order one.

No, the PM 1200 does not have solder connections. The harness uses a 25 pin female d-sub connector. We do not carry solder connectors, however if you are able to find a 25 pin female connector with solder cups you can use that instead. Or We can make the harness for an additional cost, add part number 11-13141 and all of the work will be done for you.

Q: Does the custom harness come with the jacks already attached? I do not want to mess with any soldering. I just want to put it in. Have enough issues with the intercom that is in my plane. I want to know that the harness is correct!

Yes, jacks are attached.

Q: Can a PS 1000 replace a PS 501 by using the existing 501 wiring harness?

No, if you want to add a PS 1000 you will need a new wire harness. If you would like a direct replacement that would be the 500 EX part # 11-11800.

Q: Is there a TSO version of this PS ENGINEERING PM 1200 2 PLACE MONO HIGH NOISE PANEL MOUNT INTERCOM NON-TSO FOR EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT?

The closest item would be the PM1000II part # 11-11922.

Q: There was a PS1200 intercom with independent squelch and volume functions for pilot and co-pilot. Is it available still?

Yes, the part number is 11-01671.
