Overview

An endless elastic ring composed of multiple strands of natural rubber, wound into a circular skein. Braided cover is high grade yarn. Manufactured to meet specification MIL-C-5651B, Type II. Shock cord is used in landing gear to reduce shock transmitted to fuselage while landing and taxiing and on other shock mounting applications. Color coded to insure fresh stock.CW (Cold Weather)shock rings available on Special Order basis. Prices are approx. twice that of standard shock rings. Delivery was very fast.
The four 1080 HD shick rings arrived on time and installed well in a Tri Pacer. Note: Often one thicker 1280HD is substituted but it rubs on the mounting wearing the cover thus shortening the life.
Old technology that still works as promised. Ive been using this on Piper J-3s and Pitts S-1s for a long time. Theyre not easy to install, but they last a LONG time. Requires an installation tool thats specific to the application. The tool used on a J-3 cant be used to install them on a Pitts and vice versa. Certainly they can be installed by one person, but its best to have two people available to pay close attention. When everything goes as it should, its not particularly challenging, but if something slips off during installation, the potential for personal injury is real. Its best to have another set of eyes, or to have someone there to render aid and assistance if needed.
Works well. Some vendors have it for almost half the price however.
Shock cord rings arrived as fresh as they could be with a December 2020 manufacture date on them.

These appear to be identical to the ones replaced. Be extremely careful when installing! Tons of potential energy! Literally! Be sure to acquire an installation tool !

Here is an example: for part # 1080HD, the 10 is 10/16 of the cross section, and the 80 is 8" ID in a perfect circle.
Per the manufacturer, no it does not meet this. They have not heard of this requirement or been asked this question previously. They are not sure that it relates to aviation.
These shock chords are made of natural rubber that is chemically blended with the manufactures reciepe. These are not fuel and oil resistant as this will break down the ring if you spill any on it.

Per the supplier: it is "Load at distance." However, they said in an aircraft application they will likely not reach that kinda of load.
