The aviation battery specific line of BatteryMINDer® battery chargers-maintainers-desulfators are the most advanced ever produced. In addition to charging and maintaining the indicated aviation batteries, users can now determine the level of charge remaining in their battery, and if weak and in need of replacement, before going bad. Units test for weak/dead cells and will recover weak or severely discharged batteries that other chargers would reject. Known as the CEC2-AA series they feature advancements in easy to understand battery analysis and condition not previously available in any other single model. Their high efficiency design, controlled by industrially-rated microprocessors, allow continuous operation (24 hrs./day) for less than $0.43/mont*. Temperature sensors prevents over/under charging from freezing to 130-F.

Q: My mechanic or aircraft manufacturer claims installing the BM-AIK2A airframe interface accessory is a major alteration and would require an STC. Is that true?

Per the manufacturer: No, the FAA is the sole governing authority on modifications of certified aircraft. The BM-AIK kits have been reviewed by FAA and industry personnel, who agree that its installation does not rise to the level of a major alteration to the aircraft. Only a major alteration, as defined by federal aviation regulations, requires an STC, or FSDO field approval, and filing an FAA form 337 to document the change. It is not the decision of the airframe manufacturer, or type certificate holder. Because it is NOT a major alteration, it is a MINOR alteration, which is within the authority of the installing mechanic to sign off with a simple maintenance log entry.

Q: My battery is covered bolted down and back in the fuselage. Can I clip the charger to the 28v external supply port rather than direct to the battery?

Yes, but you will need a universal jump plug either Piper/Cessna style plug.

No, this is designed for Gill batteries that are AGM.
