This WILL work with the A6 as well as the other A14/A24 models. The reason why a squealing sound is being heard is because a feedback loop is being presented to the radio. To eliminate the feedback and effectively use the HM234 handheld speaker microphone on the ICOM A6 one must TURN-OFF the Side-Tone Function by setting it to 0. To do this follow these steps: While keying the PTT button rotate the squelch knob CCW until 0 setting achieved. This information is also in the ICOM Technical Support Knowledge Base under the FAQ section. IC-A6 Radio and HM-234 will/does work as advertised. ICOM is a great company and top notch radio manufacturer and they stand behind their products.
