A Resorcinol Formaldehyde Adhesive capable of curing at room temperature and providing strong, durable, waterproof bonds. Comes in two parts, a liquid resin (part A) and a powered catalyst (part B). the liquid resin is an alcohol-water solution of a partially condensed resorcinol-formaldehyde resin containing a suitable reinforcing cellulosic filler. The hardener is a tan powder formulated from paraformaldehyde and a suitable cellulosic filler.

Produces a cured glue line which is resistant to fresh water or salt water, most acids and organic solvents, and lubricating oils and greases. Being thermoset, the bond is resistant to elevated temps. and conversely, no loss in bond strength occurs at temperatures as low as -40F. These features make it advantageous for use as a general marine and aircraft use. It provides strong bonds between many wood and non-wood surfaces. These include treated woods, many plastics, natural and synthetic rubber, primed metal, leather, textiles, paper and fiber boards.

The other review on this product has nothing to do with the product but with the shipping, so the one star rating it gives is not fair to the product. This is an excellent adhesive for gluing and laminating wood. It is truly waterproof and retains its strength in hot and humid or wet environments. It is also highly resistant to chemicals and solvents. As with any adhesive or laminating resin system, read and follow the instructions carefully, measure and mix carefully, be mindful of the working times and pot life vs ambient temperature, and Cascophen will yield excellent results. Highly recommended for aircraft woodwork and other select adhesive tasks per the instructions.

The products only flaw is the dark glue lines I get when joining white woods.

I have not yet used the glue but it is going to expire in 2 months. It is bad enough that it has a normal lifespan of 9 months or so, but receiving something so old already is not at all helpful.

I received this 3 days that was nice....BUT...the hardener container only had 1/4 to 1/3 of the powder and the plastic jar/lid wasnt tight the outside of the 2 containers was coated with the hardener powder...not happy with this..

Q: what are the mixing ratios?

It is a 5 to 1 mix ratio by weight.

Q: When this dries, is it brownish in color?

Per the tech data sheet, it does not specify which color it dries. However, it does mention that Part B Hardener is tan in color.

Q: Does the pint kit make a pint of glue? Or is each can a pint? Thanks, Bill

Part A contains the described amount, example a pint, but after adding Part B, the kit yeilds a little more than described amount. In short this is a two part adhesive, and is mixed 5 to 1, and part A contains a pint, quart, etc.., but when mixed with part B you have 1/5 more usable material to glue parts with.

Q: Do you have the tech data sheet for this Cascophen? What is the mixing life?

We have added the Tech Data and Instructions PDF to the "Documents" tab of this email. The mixing life is included in the tech data sheet.

Q: What is the approximately coverage in square foot for a quart? Regarding Cascophen. Thanks.

The manufacturer does not give a coverage area, but other similar adhesives have a 12 to 18 sq ft coverage per gallon.

Q: Is this FAA approved? Can an 8130 be furnished for it?

Cascophen does not carry FAA Approval and is not required to be approved. 8130 cannot be furnished however there is a certificate of analysis available.

Q: What is the shelf life of this product? Is it appropriate for wood propeller lamination?

As a kit, A&B parts, it has an 8 month shelf life. One year for part A, and 8 months for part B. You will need to contact the prop manufacturer to determine the adhesive they recommend for repair on their prop. Cascophen is a resorcinal-formaldehyde base adhesive
