What makes our aviation windsocks different?
Two major things make a windsock, its material and its construction. We start off with a premium nylon fabric that is made right here in the USA to our exacting standards. Nylon offers unparalleled windsock durability to the elements and will not become rigid in cold weather, keeping our windsocks extremely responsive in even the slightest of wind. From there it gets urethane coated and UV protected, giving the windsock superior fade resistance and color retention. The material is subjected to a variety of tests by an independent lab to verify its structural integrity and UV resistance. This superior material is then cut and sewn right here in our own facility. Our reinforced double stitched hems and heavy duty brass grommets, assures our windsocks long life reliability.

Q: Do these Nylon Windsocks under the heading Airport Orange and White Windsocks - stand fully erect at the standard 15 Kts?

The 10" windsocks respond in very light winds as long as trees or buildings don't obstruct the wind flow. Calibrated windsocks start at 13" diameter.

Q: 18x72. What does 18 & 72 represent?

18" diameter and 72" length.

Q: Do these wind socks come with a frame?

No, these are the wind socks only. Frames and poles must be purchased separately.

Q: My first time purchasing a wind sock, does the price includes the stand/pole as well as the sock?

No, this is just the windsock. For a complete set up, you will need a pole and frame as well as the sock.

Q: If the 13 diameter is a calibrated windsock, does it come with written instructions for determining the current windspeed based off the colored stripes?

These have a standard calibration. Alternating stripes of high visibility orange and white were initially used to help to estimate the speed of wind. Each stripe adds up 3 knots to the estimated wind speed. However, some circle frames mountings cause windsocks to be held open at one end, indicating a velocity of 3 knots, even though anemometers would show no wind speed. A fully extended windsock suggests a wind speed of 15 knots (28 km/h; 17 mph) or greater.

Q: My windsock frame is 24 diameter with the 24 extending 18. Are these windsocks tapered?

These are tapered. You would need the 24"x96" for that frame.

Q: How does the windsock attach to the frame?

You would use the included zip ties to attach the sock to the frame.

Q: Will your longer windsock design help determine wind speeds greater than 15 knots? Are there more orange and white stripes correlating to greater wind speeds in the design of your longer socks?

This is not a calibrated windsock.

Q: Are these wind socks reflective?

No, they are not.
