Rosen King Air Visor Fixed Mnt
March 14, 2024
For what it’s worth for Piper Cherokee:
The shades will get mounted to the sides of the cockpit no matter which of the two options you choose.
When selecting between “center mounted” or “swivel stud” when you order, you’re actually selecting what your aircraft ORIGINALLY had so they send you the correct kit, with the correct mounting hardware and different base attachment.
So, order what you had, not what you actually want, since both options get mounted to the side of the aircraft.

I love these visors! No more visors falling down in my view on short final. Easy install too. They took about 10 minutes to install.

Amazing. I have used these once before in a previous plane I shared ownership. BUT! I forgot how much of a difference these specific visors make. Installation was done by me as I am an A&P and I felt the installation was straight forward. The articulation of the Rosen Visor cant be beat. $$ for me but so far well worth the investment.

Excellent coverage. Looks great!
On installation we needed a 3/8, Not a 5/16 wrench. Only problem weve had.

Ordered the Rosen sun visors on a Monday and received them Friday just like the sales Lady said. She was very friendly and pleasant to deal with as well as being product smart ! I do not have the visors installed yet but they appear to be good quality and were packed well with no noticeable damage. Will contact Aircraft Spruce again when shopping for aircraft parts and supplies ! Gerry Murray

Considering there are really no other industry alternatives, these are a great quality product. With exception to the crappy old OEM visors I dont know of another legal product replacement. They look sharp and work pretty well.

Center mount Rosen visors were the first thing I ordered when I bought a Cessna 182 with stock visors. Based on other reviews at Aircraft Spruce, I ordered the 3-axis adapters too. Some reviewers complained about the additional cost or that they should come included with the kit, but they are “optional” equipment and in my opinion, the additional charge for the option is nominal relative to the overall costs of personal aircraft ownership. Installation was straight forward but I highly recommend using an L-shaped Allen key with the ball shape which acts somewhat as a universal joint so that the windshield doesn’t get scratched. I’m very satisfied with both the product quality and functionality and with the excellent service provided by Aircraft Spruce for my first order with them. Total install time less than an hour including removal of stock visors, logs endorsed and 337 filed and flying with nice visits to combat the Florida summer sun! 👍🇺🇸

It would behoove whomever is installing the visors to look for a small ratchet with the correct Allen. 5/32nds I think for our C172 visors. It made the job a lot quicker and easier than using the included Allens, especially due to the windshield located so close. BUT the visors work great in the air and make the plane look sharp too.

The Allen head screws were too difficult for me to install into the c172. They angle towards the windscreen using the supplied Allen wrench. Might work with a stubby or angle driver. I did have a stubby Phillips and flat screwdriver and was able to install 1” 10 32 screws

This is a well designed product that is also relatively easy to install. However, I did find that I needed to deviate substantially from the instructions.
For my plane I had to remove more of the interior plastic than anticipated - not a big deal. What I did find was that I could not reinstall the interior piece surrounding the visor mount with the visor attached. The plastic piece blocked access to the mounting hardware.
I had to remove the mounting post from the rest of the assembly, mount it to the airframe, reinstall the interior plastic, then attach the rest of the visor assembly to the post.
Once I sorted that out, it was no more than 10-15 mins each side.
On my first flight, I did need to use the allen wrenches included in the kit, to tighten the visor to keep it from inadvertently extending down.
Such an improvement from the original factory visors. I honestly wish I had done this 10 years ago - In my mind it was a much bigger project than it turned out to be.

I recently purchased a pair of Rosen visors for my 182. They came packaged very professionally with the protective paper layer still adhered to the lenses. For the model that fit my plane, installation was easy because the new visors use the same bolt holes as the originals. Total installation time, including removal of the old visors, was about an hour. They look great and function just as I hoped they would!

Nice quality, nice system but for me two less items:
- It’s an stc no faa-pma so you need an I/A to do a 337
- it’s bigger than the original and it’s stores a little less well when not needed
To end on a positive note, it’s more movable with the articulation and extendable arm then the original so it’s blocking the sun where you need it to block

Great sun visor, the best. I installed it in my P35 Bonanza. Not to be absolutely complete, the third axis is missing, which I now have to buy separately. Due to not having the downward movement, it get stuck a little bit when turning sideways.

Visors are great. I was disappointed the screws that came with the visors were too big. Rather than use the original screws which werent the best looking, I purchased new screws and painted them black to match the visor mount.

Installed on my Cessna 170B. Direct replacement of original Cessna visors as advertised. Very well constructed with good coverage using both visors. I don’t see a need for 3rd axis for this aircraft.
Easy install.

Third axis update has very little description and I am not exactly sure what it does. You don’t need two of these it is a pair not in the description

Our Cessna 310R had the original equipment sun-visors when we bought it, and the upgrade to the Rosens is great. I only gave it 4 stars because it seems the third axis fitting should be included for the price.

The Rosen Kits are always nice and well built, however even though the particular Cessna 150 Im working on had center mount visors, it requires the side mount kit, so I had to return the center mount kit for the side mount kit.
Regarding the STC, personally I question the need for it when the kit is using existing bolt holes, however for the 150M, drilling holes in the carry through spar and installing rivnuts (supplied in the side mount kit) are required, in this case the STC does ease the approval process.

I installed these in my Cardinal RG. They arent really form fitted at all. I find that I need to slide them off and keep them in the back seat until needed. However, they work really well when needed and extended. Would I purchase again?? Probably not. If they fit better that answer would be absolutely.

Great Product but 3rd Axis should be standard with Visors for Cessna Models as well. These Visors are top dollar so why nickel & dime another $77.00 to get the correct mounting hardware? These mounts have been out now for about 10 years and still dont come with the Visors... Disappointing

I dont usually review products unless Im wildly impressed or wildly disappointed. Unfortunately, this is the latter. This is my first ever purchase of Rosen visors for a 172 L. The right seat visor had a chip and a crack that was only visible when protective plastic covering was removed.
I called Aircraft Spruce to report this and they said they would get back to me. Its been 5 days since reporting the defect and still no return communication.
Ive paid my A&P to install them while in for an oil change and will likely need to cough up another chunk of change to reinstall them.
Additionally, I think the mil (thickness) is flimsy for almost $400.
One final point, the multi-axis hinge (which you only need to order 1 of) which was $75, should be included for that amount of money.
Overall, not a good experience.

Disappointed.
1. Third axis should come standard.
2. These simple shades require 4 different allen wrenches to install and maintain.
3. The installation instructions could be simpler and clearer
I cant imagine who wrote them.
There easy to install but could be even easier if they would use thumb screws on the spar clamp instead of allen screws the people at Rosen are wacked.
This is the only good visor on the matket I know of.
I think FAA Bureacrats use the system for pay to play. STCs
Rosen company is disappointing.
