Part# 11-13926
MFR Model# ETX900

Overview

Note: Not FAA Approved. Intended for use in experimental aircraft only.

The ETX900 is lightweight and crazy powerful!

This battery is intended for 540ci engine size or less; 80 amp alternator/generator or less.

The ETX battery series is fully protected by an integrated battery management system (BMS). The BMS protects the cell’s from over discharge, over charge, short circuit, temperature, in addition to cell balancing to ensure charge levels are equal. Additionally, the ETX-Hundred-Series aircraft batteries have redundant electronic circuits and battery fault indication. The fault indicator can be connected into your EFIS or wired to a 12volt LED light on your control panel to alert you to the state of charge and state of health of the battery. (Please see manual for details)

Benefits

  • With EarthX, you gain the quality and performance you want from your lithium batteries. Our experienced team commits to innovation and industry best practices to deliver batteries you can trust. We only source high-quality materials for our batteries, and we support every product with attentive customer service. The aircraft specific batteries are the ETX Hundred series, do not use the power sport batteries as they do not have all the same safety features as the aircraft specific ones.
  • As a veteran-owned, U.S.-based company, we’re proud to provide the batteries you require for your experimental aircraft.

  • Advantages Of Utilizing EarthX Batteries For Experimental Aircraft
  • EarthX lithium batteries offer many benefits for experimental aircraft, including:
  • Lightweight materials: Our lithium batteries use cutting edge technology that lead to a much lighter battery and more powerful batteries as compared to lead acid counterparts. There’s about an 80% weight savings over a comparable lead acid battery for instant weight savings.
For Example: the PC680 weighs 15 pounds and has 170CCA. The EarthX ETX680 weighs 4 pounds and has 320CCA. Lighter weight makes installation easier and improves the handling of your aircraft.
  • Increased cranking power: EarthX Batteries do not experience the large voltage drops as lead acid batteries experience to provide you a consistent and powerful startup every time you use your aircraft.
  • Safe performance: EarthX Batteries feature a state-of-the-art Battery Management System (BMS) that monitors performance and prevents overcharging and over discharging. The BMS is key to the longevity of our batteries.
  • Long-lasting: With the help of the BMS, our lithium batteries can last up to six years, even with heavy use in your experimental aircraft.

  • Our Commitment To Powering Aviation
  • Innovation drives us, and we continue to develop our batteries for use in the aviation industry. We are the first and only company in the world to have a 12V FAA TSO approved lithium battery for aviation use, and this is only the beginning. Our engineers have more TSO approved models in the works to make a significant impact on this industry. We currently also have a 24V FAA TSO battery offering.
  • Lead acid batteries have been at the forefront of aircraft power for decades, but we want to see change. Our developments in lithium iron phosphate batteries offer greater power, performance and safety for aircraft of all types. Be prepared to see new aircraft on the market that come with EarthX Batteries straight from the manufacturer.
  • We have goals in the aviation industry to make changes for the betterment of all, and we’re offering our support wherever we can with a Veteran owned and operated company in the USA.

Reviews

This is our second EtX900 battery. The first one lasted 6 years and still tests within the minimum spec, but its toward the lower end now so were freshening up to make sure its good for at least 6 more years. The performance of the battery has been flawless and it just amazes me how much power these lighweight batteries can store.

This is my second EarthX battery for my RV7. The current one has been in the plane for 5 years and exhibits NO sign of deterioration. However, I assigned a TBO of 5 years so replace it and keeping in the plane as a back-up (just in case). Could not be happier with EarthX. I highly recommend one for your plane.

It reduced the weight by 10 lb (always good) and spun the prop over faster than the AGM battery ever did. Now to see what the long term is like.

So far so good. This is one of those projects that (time will tell). The posts aren’t located favoring one side of the battery like the concord battery, so cables and battery box may require altering. Seems to crank better than the lead/acid batteries. No worries about acid leakage so that’s a huge benefit. Weight reduction is wonderful. Don’t know the exact difference but it’s crazy. All things considered I would buy again.

More starting power and voltage translate into faster starts in engines with electronic ignition, e-mags and so on. Less A/h rating than Oddysey 925, so make sure you are ok with it and of not, consider the larger Earth/x models. Top mounted terminals vs side mounted in the 925 Oddysey may require minor modifications to mounting brackets less weight requires you to recalculate w&b tables

Less voltage drop, more starting current yield faster starts with less cranking than the Oddysey 925 I replaced with, itself a great battery. Pay attention to Amp/h rating, the Earth/x has about half the capacity of the 925, make sure you understand how much battery reserve you have and of you are ok with it

This battery is replacing a PC680 which has difficulty starting I0-470. The EarthEX spins the starter quickly and maintains starter wrap engagement. Spins fast enough that I can no longer count blades. No kickbacks or backfire on hot starts. Hot start issues seem to be eliminated with more energetic rotation.

Replaced a functioning nine- year-old EarthX to be on the safe side. Wiring location was slightly different than the older battery but just made a short jumper to resolve the difference. Definitely pleased with the product and will buy again, hopefully in another nine years. :-)
