Q: What is the diameter of the knob on the A-730 Glide Free Control?

The diameter of the knob on this control is approximately 1-1/8".

Q: What is the outside diameter of the cable outer casing?

A-730 cables have a 3/16" O.D. housing.

Q: What is the hole size required to mount this A-730 glide free control in a panel?

It requires a 3/8" hole for mounting.

Q: What is the thread size of the knob on the A-730 glide free control?

The knob has 10-32 threads. Loctite is used to secure the knob from the factory when threaded on.

Q: Is the A-730 glide free control casing also stainless steel?

No, it is a galvanized housing with an inner nylon liner.

Q: What is the size of the solid wire?

A-730 controls have .050" diameter inner wire.

Q: Can I use this A-730 control for mixture or carburetor heat?

This cable does not have any specific application. It is a glide free cable with a solid wire end, so if your application calls for this style cable at this length, it should work very well. It is not an FAA approved unit.

Q: The description says, may be shortened as required. Can you please describe how that can be done? the coiled metal casing around the wire is very stiff and not easy to work.

You would first figure out the length for the inner cable and cut it to length. Then you would figure out the length of the outer coil casing(accounting for the stroke) and cut it. It may require a hacksaw or cutoff wheel to cut it.

Q: Can this cable be used inside an experimental aircraft engine compartment firewall forward? Im concerned about the heat characteristics of the cable liner.

Yes these are commonly used firewall forward on experimental aircraft.
