Overview

**NOT FAA APPROVED - FOR USE IN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ONLY**

It is Radiant's first step into the integrated Glass Panel market for experimental aircraft. We call it the Mini Glass SafePanel. It combines Turn Coordinator, Inclinometer, Digital Altimeter, Vertical Speed (digital and vertical tape), Above Ground Level (vertical tape), and OPTIONAL ASI (digital and vertical tape) into a single, bright, panel-mounted instrument using the same proven digital core as SafeTurn and our popular Panel Turn Coordinator.

Plus, it also has a backup battery that runs when ship power is dead. It’s ideal as either a primary VFR panel for simple airplanes or a high-confidence backup in a more complex panel. It also now has built-in 8-step dimming for adjustment to any lighting condition.

It delivers more fluid motion, crisp readability, and solid stability across temperature changes. You'll see a daylight-readable color LCD that shows digital yaw rate (deg/sec), a central aircraft symbol for turn direction, and a bubble-style roll inclinometer for coordination.

Smarter Turn Coordinator with Digital Yaw and Warn
SafePanel’s turn and bank presentation offers more information:

  • A re-engineered inclinometer and ball with smoother geometry and motion than RADIANT’s earlier turn coordinators.
  • Digital yaw readout, giving a precise numeric indication of rate of yaw change.
  • Yaw exceedance warnings, with clear annunciation when yaw exceeds approximately 5° and again around 20°, helping pilots catch tightening turns quickly.

Features

  • Integrated Turn Coordinator & Ball
    • Same rock-solid digital engine as our popular Panel Turn Coordinator
  • Altimeter
    • Barometric altitude with digital Kollsman setting (IN/HPA)
    • Clear digital altitude display with fast update and smart smoothing
    • Provides settable altitude information via a standard Kollsman window.
    • If calibrated, we have demonstrated that our technology can meet the applicable portion of the TSO for altitude accuracy.
    • Altimeter works from 0 to 20,000 feet.
  • Vertical Speed Indicator
    • Numeric VSI in FPM
    • Vertical bar/triangle rate presentation tuned for readability
  • Panel-Mount Design
    • Fits standard 2 1/4" or 3⅛" instrument hole
    • Internal battery charges from ship's power allows unit to operate even if ship's power is lost
  • Dimming & Visuals
    • Updated bevel/neon aesthetics
    • Smooth dimming and highly legible typography
  • Experimental Focus
    • For use in experimental and light sport aircraft
    • Non-TSO’d; complements certified primary instruments in appropriate aircraft

Power, Panel, Battery Backup, Dimming and ROW

Battery backup automatically charges when connected to ship’s power. Because it works when ship power is lost, SafePanel includes robust power and backup features:
  • In the event of ship power loss, SafePanel raises a clear power loss flag and continues operating on internal battery, with 4+ hours of typical runtime, 10 or more hours at reduced brightness.
  • SafePanel has front-panel power switch for quick control.
Panel-Mount Design for standard 2 1/4" or 3⅛" instrument hole. 2 ¼” usage may require an extra notch cutout.

SafePanel supports global operations:
  • Rest Of World fully supported, with user-selectable 29.92 inHg vs 1013.5 hPa standard settings.
  • User-selectable knots/mph for airspeed display.

Integrated Altimeter, VSI, and AGL, Optional ASI

  • Standard on SafePanel:
  • Digital altimeter
  • Digital VSI
  • Vertical VSI tape, giving at-a-glance trend information
  • When configured for AGL, the vertical tape becomes an altitude-above-ground indicator instead of airspeed. The tape and digital readout give an immediate picture of height above terrain, which is ideal for pattern work, training, and low-altitude operations.
  • User-configurable thresholds make it easy to align the AGL tape with typical pattern altitudes and flap-usage practices.

  • Optional ASI Tape:
  • Smooth ASI vertical tape plus a digital airspeed readout.
  • Functional from 0 to 220 knots (250 mph).
  • User-selectable knots/mph.
  • All V-speeds user-configurable in setup, displayed directly on the ASI tape (Vso, Vs1, Vfe, Vno, Vne).
  • With the ASI option, the vertical tape functions like a traditional “mini glass” airspeed indicator. The user can set it back to AGL mode via a setup screen.
