After precleaning with BONDERITE C-IC 33 AERO, rinse with water. Apply without dilution by brushing or swabbing with sponge. Rinse with water and surface is ready for paint. Flammable. Available in quart and gallon sized.

Works good. Just make sure you sand, jitterbugger the alum. I put some alum. bar stock in my home made tank as filler (so the liquid would cover my parts) and they did not take the coating because they had the years old finish oxide.

I follow the directions - the parts come out perfect, every time.

Works well. Obviously works better on brushes Ali and if soaked. Takes on a nice golden color, a little less when Alcoa’s is not scuffed.

Q: Is there a technical process bulletin available for the Alodine 1201? Interested in the mix ratio if any when application will be immersion. Thanks

The technical process bulletin for Alodine 1201 is part # 09-00678. It is no charge and can be found in the "Accessories" tab on this web page.

Q: What is the useful shelf life of Alodine 1201?

This product has a twelve month shelf life from the day the container is opened, but no longer than 36 months from the date of manufacture.

Q: How many square feet does a gallon of Bondrite M-CR 1201 treat?

Coverage area will vary with the mix ratio, application efficiency, part size, and the amount of corrosion to be removed. Under ideal conditions, a gallon of ALODINE 1201 will treat 800 square feet of surface. Prime within 24 hours of application.

Q: Do you apply primer after the 1201 or do you apply paint directly after?

Please review the tech data information in the document tab for details. If the instructions are followed, the part can be primed or painted once the part is dry.

Q: is gold the only tone alodine comes in? Years ago I remember a red tone, still available?

Yes, the gold tone is the only alodine 1201 in production currently. For Alodine 1001, see Part# 09-01628. This has a different tone.

Q: Does the Alodine 1201 work on pot metal or zinc alloys?

This is only for aluminum per the tech sheet.

Q: Can this be used for touch-up work? Will the Alodine damage surrounding paint?

We would recommend the 09-01630 touch up pen. It would require rinsing and its easier to keep it off the surrounding paint.

Q: Will a self etching primer eliminate the need for the two part process of alumiprep 33 and alodine on aluminum?

No as purpose of the alumiprep and alodine is the clean and prep the surface so that you can the primer it after the process, even if it is a self etching primer.
