PKG 6061 RV-8 Mount

These black anodised 6061 mated rings suit the Vans RV-8, installed through the 2" lightening hole in the steel windshield bow gusset (left, right or both sides of the cockpit). They make installing a standard AMPS pattern MyGoFlight (MGF) quick release dovetail base (Part MNT-1746) or a RAM 1" ball mount (Part RAM-B-347U) a cinch. The MGF option makes a strong, vibration free and convenient installation for both the MGF long or short 'flex-arm' or a RAM solution for supporting an iPad, camera or Quadlock iPhone case. Together they form practical alternative to leg-mounts that typically interfere with the controls or panel mount that hides the instruments, also dramatically cutting down vibration to make small iPad text much easier to read in flight. Our ring kit comes complete with four M4 x 16mm stainless screws (pre-dry-Loctite'd) and 2.5mm Allen key.

MGF (in the US) and PKG offers a complete kit - including CNC billet machined PKG rings, MGF dovetail base, flex arms and Sport Adapter Gen 3 to match your MGF iPad case (conventional or cooling types). The MGF flex-arm articulates at the top, middle and bottom for maximum positioning flexibility, but locks positively with a single knob, allowing you to position your device exactly where you want it without needing three hands. It's a fantastic combination we wholeheartedly recommend! For those that already have RAM systems, PKG also offers an RV8 ring kit including a modified 1" RAM base with the corners machined down slightly to match the ring diameter.

Note: Evident in the photos and described in the included fitting instructions, the four AMPS pattern mounting holes slightly overlap the edge of the 2" 4130 steel lightening hole, which requires some metal removal aligned with each hole using a small round file, followed by de-burring. This won't materially effect the structural integrity of the windshield bow (in normal or rollover situations).
