Part# 05-12908

Overview

This is an easy to retrofit canopy handle for the RV-12 with an integrated locking mechanism. Over two years was put into the design and testing of this handle. This handle was designed as an easy to install accessory that can be retrofit to an existing aircraft whether painted or unpainted. In addition, it is cnc machined and powder coated and provides a much nicer finish than the stock handle.

In The Box

  • CNC Machined, powder coated and labeled Door Handle
  • Machined and powder coated pin receptacles in varying heights to account for installation variances
  • Installation hardware for receptacles
  • Regular AN screw and countersunk security screw (included but optional to use for higher security
  • installation)
  • Lock mechanism and keys
  • Lockout device to prevent inadvertent locking of the aircraft

Reviews

Pleased with the product. Fitting was not straightforward because the recess of a small Allen head screw started to slip when I was turning the wrench.

RV-12 CANOPY LOCK

Fantastic Unit. Easy to install. Does NOT require any cutting into the canopy. Special drill bits are utilized when drilling through any plexi parts. This is done many times in the course of the RV12 build. To install this unit, it requires one additional hole to be drilled more than the stock plans call for. Very easy to do.

The installation of this canopy lock is extremely straightforward and easy. LOVE IT!!!! No cutting into the plexiglass is required. What the previous review may be referring to is that you need to drill a mounting hole through the roll bar. This mounting hole gets drilled like all the other holes in the canopy.... Carefully and with a drill bit made for plastic.

TBD. Shudda realized that operationally this would require cutting into the canopy. Aint gonna do that in 30 & 40* weather. Ask me again next summer when the temps get warm enough to safely cut into the plexiglass
