As the name implies, this material is made by milling fiberglass into a very thin consistency. This material is used in preparing a structural filler. This material is used in fillets that require structural integrity. Milled fiber fillers have higher strength than cotton flock but have fine particles of fiberglass that can penetrate the skin. |
Milled glass is absolutely necessary in composite construction and repair work. AS&S has what us home builders need -Always. Great Company and Great People.
No information on what fiber lengths, though, like some other vendors. The bag looks like powder- I was thinking it would be longer fibers on the presumption that longer fibers = greater strength. Will test it and see if it is strong enough for my casting application despite the apparently microscopic fiber length.
Great price and exactly what I was looking for regarding milled fibers. They shipped quickly. No issues, thank you!
Exactly what I expected. One should plan using milled fiberglass - my application is internal for strength (compressive). Laminating epoxy is better for use with this product. I suggest testing before application so you will have planning and expectations set prior to intended use.
This is the first time I have used this product. I needed to make a structural fairing compound and it performed well for the task using West System epoxy. The milled fiberglass is more of a powder than chopped strands of fiberglass.
