Battery worked fine. To install you need an Allen wrench the same size as your battery screws. This winch also fits the Allen screw in the center bottom hole on the G-5. The one screw holds the G-5 in the panel. Slide it out and replace the battery. Very easy.

Circumstances required us to wait to install G5s in plane. 8 months later we installed units and found batteries would not take a charge. Trying now to see if Garmin will warranty batteries.

The battery failed after just 5 months. At $220 a pop, this isnt acceptable.

Aircraft Spruce gets 5 stars, Garmin 2. The batteries are very expensive and unreliable. The last one failed after 2 years of light use. Garmin needs to find somebody else to make their batteries. To be fair, the battery installed easily, worked properly and I received what I expected. Unfortunately, it may not last very long. At least they are readily available and easy to replace.

This is the 3rd battery Ive had to buy for my second G5 there should be a 5 year warranty for a battery this expensive and that they are clearly sending out defective batteries with no QC.

My G5 battery I received had only 0.44v and within about 1 minute it dropped to 0.41v before I shut it down. For nearly $300, its basically unusable.

This Garmin product has been quite the disappointment. I have 3 G-5’s installed and two batteries have already become unserviceable and needed replacement at a cost of over $400 USD. After installing the two “new” batteries neither of them will attain a 100% charge and continue to discharge at a very high rate requiring me to regularly charge the batteries while connected to an external charger. All three G-5’s have the latest firmware update too. The strange thing is that the original battery installed in one of the G-5’s continues to function as advertised. I would not purchase another one of these batteries until Garmin addresses this problem which they are already aware of.

Some back-up....new unit arrived with a dead battery, bought a replacement from AS, it arrived dead and wont charge and now a third one has been installed and it too arrived dead and will not charge. I have 2 G5s installed so I can move them around to check them. the G5s work but the batteries are $200 pieces of junk.

Had to order 3rd one. First two didn’t charge. Went through all kinds of issues with my G5 trying to get it to charge. But it was the battery’s 3rd times the charm. I should have just opened it up and fixed it. Love my Garmin but the battery’s 👎
