|Aeropoxy Light, a modification of the ES6279 adhesive system, is a two-component paste epoxy patching and filler compound for foam, wood, fiberglass and other surfaces. The mixed consistency of this system is very smooth and creamy, so it spreads easily, and can be splined to a feather edge without separation. It is a thixotropic, non-sag material that will remain in place in thick sections, even when applied upside down! The resin and hardener of this system are color coded for easy mixing. The resin is white and the hardener is brown, giving a good visual indication of complete mixing with a uniform tan color free of streaks. AEROPOXY LIGHT has special low density fillers incorporated into it that provide very distinct benefits. It is a very light material (4 pounds per gallon), and therefore contributes minimal added weight to the filled or repaired structure. Also, the cured material is very easy to sand, making the finished patch undetectable when covered or painted. There are no volatile ingredients in AEROPOXY LIGHT, so the cured material will not outgas, which could cause a loss of adhesion of paint or coverings. Sold in kits of part A and B.|
The liquid settles to the bottom of the B can. If you follow directions and stir it to a constant consistency before mixing it with the A can you get a product that is easy to apply, easy to sand and is very light.

Is the consistency of canned cake frosting. Spreads nice, and sands smooth easily. Great product!
A first class epoxy putty that is quite strong but still sandable. It is not real sensitive to inaccuracies in mix ratio, but make sure it is thoroughly mixed. The filler needs to be at about room temperature prior to mixing or mixing gets to be quite a chore.
Mixing is easy - just like Bondo (putty knife and a piece of cardboard). Application is similar too, with a plastic spatula. This material is very dense, but at the same time light weight. Almost no pinholes and it blends to edges very nicely. Let it cure overnight. Start sanding with course paper to get the right shape and level, then finish with fine paper carefully to prepare for primer. Pretty cool product.
Oh yeah! This is the stuff! Sands like a dream! Hard to imaging a lighter filler. Mixing it isnt much fun, but I found a method that works well. I use a small digital scale, and zero out the weight of a stiff plastic cup. Then Ill add one ounce of filler, followed by a half-ounce of catalyst. Mix with a paint stick until uniform in color- it will take some effort. Then work quickly to apply to the repair area. Although it takes several hours to cure, it will begin to set in just a few minutes, at which time it is pretty unworkable. Very happy with Aeropoxy Light! Peter
Mixed at correct ratio will cure and be sand-able in five hours. very light and easy to sand. Very sticky during application. Worked perfectly for my application.
we used this as a patch material on our de-ice plates on our PA-31-350. It has a longer dry time (5+ hours) so you need to be prepared to wait. We had to make a very thick patch and didn't mix with enough hardener - had to scrape it off - after 11 hours it was still mushy... MEK takes it right off... we re-mixed and didn't use it so much as a resin filler as a skim coat/patch. Remixed with more than recommended hardener and it worked great. The material is very lightweight when finished.
Yes. This is an epoxy based filler and will bond well to properly prepared, clean aluminum surfaces.

The temp range for the Aeropoxy Light is 160-180 degrees. They just sent me a tech data sheet for their poly filler HT polyester filler paste that can be subjected to service temperatures in excess of 400 degrees. This is an epoxy base filler, and has minimal shrinkage, and cures at room temp. Heat can be applied to accelerate cure, but is not required.
The Aeropoxy shelf life is 1 year.
No per the data sheet it is only to be mixed 2 parts A to 1 part B by weight.
This would be an alternative to flox and micro-balloons.
