Exactly what I needed. The counter person at will call was very, very helpful.
Works as described. Seems well made and relatively compact. I did not find modification of the shell necessary. I used it with the 9-pin D connector, which uses tiny folded tabs to hold the front and back halves of the metal connector shroud together. At first, since those tiny tabs fold to the backside, there was interference with the front face of the backshell. Fixed the problem perfectly by squeezing the tabs of the connector flat against the flange with a rivet squeezer. Then the connector fit the shell perfectly. Only took me a few seconds. I would order again.
Although this was plastic, as long as you are careful, this was a nice piece.

The silver D-Sub housings do not come with the D-Sub connector. These housings will fit either the crimp or the solder type of connectors.
These do come with the thumb screws.
