|The Classic Scanner is perfect for any plane, especially for those pilots with a smaller budget. This scanner has proven reliance and durability compares with no other on the market. Kit plane builders love its reliability and durability for a great price. A large red LED display makes your engine monitoring flawlessly accurate, as the instrument scans through each cylinder of your plane's engine. EGT and CHT are both available and alarms are standard on this one. Temperature can also be monitored in degrees Fahrenheit, and the Scanner uses super accurate fast response probes. The Scanner also can let you know about shock cooling before its too late! The Scanner is FAA TSO approved and comes with a one year limited warranty.|

This unit is not suitable for a hard working airplanes. It may be a good unit on your $100 burger straight and level flight airplane. I operate several C-182 jump planes with the JPI 700. Then, I decided to go with the Classic unit on our last two acquisitions, since its cheaper and I dint see the need of a graphic bar, but I was reassured that the most important function I needed was in there: The shock cooling rate alarm. Jump planes are very sensitive to shock cooling, due to a fast descent after climbing to 10.000 at high power settings. Its impossible once in a while to not exceed 50 or 60 degrees cooling rate momentarily in a jump operation. Nonetheless, the Classic unit never issued a flashing warning. Our 700 units never had this problem, and they are installed on the airplanes that fly the most. So, we never saw the shock cooling display flashing at least once in three years of operation and the step button got broken on both units within months after installation. Without it, you cannot access voltage or flip through CHT/EGT faster. Again, I would not recommend this unit for any hard working airplane.

Part number 10-02924 is the 4 cylinder version and comes with 4 EGT and 4 CHT and 10-02927 is the 6 cylinder version and comes with 6 EGT and 6 CHT. No, this is not a primary EGT/CHT replacement and you must keep your original equipment.
We have added the installation manual to the web page under the "Documents" tab. This will help with determining how to install the various options. It is one instrument per engine. A twin would need two instruments.
A complete diagram is provided on Pg 9 of the installation manual located in the documents tab.
No, this unit can only display Fahrenheit.
The CYL digit is the cylinder number of the temperature currently displayed. In the EGT/CHT display a 4 digit value is an EGT and a 3 digit value with small leading c is a CHT.
The ones we have listed are bayonet style probes. The probes are 3/8" with 24 threads.
JPI EGT probes can be found under our part # 10-00830.
This is a 2 inch round instrument with a square bezel that is 3-1/4 inch from corner to corner.
Per the manual, you can use 10-03689.
