Overview

The SAFE-HEET Variable Temperature Controller can be used with any 700 Series SAFE-HEET Engine Pre-heater as an installation aid, or for providing temperature control for continuous pre-heat without promoting internal engine corrosion.

As an installation aid for the SAFE-HEET Engine pre-heater, the temperature controller allows the pre-heater to quickly cure the installation adhesive, using its own heat energy at a reduced rate.  The increased temperature also thins the adhesive, which aids in eliminating micro bubbles and provides better heat transfer.  The SAFE-HEET pre-heaters can be installed in much colder temperatures using the model 707 Variable Temperature Controller.

The Variable Temperature Controller can also be used for extended periods by setting the indicator in the blue or red range.  These lower temperature settings help prevent the internal engine corrosion normally associated with leaving heaters on at full power.  The Variable Temperature Controller allows the user to determine what setting best fits each unique situation.  For example, if subzero weather is forecasted and a flight is anticipated in the next couple of days or a week the controller can be set at about 50-75% brightness of the indicator light.  The reduced setting will maintain the engine temperatures just above freezing.  This engine temperature will not promote internal engine corrosion but will allow quick pre-heat when the aircraft is needed.  For completion of the pre-heat, the controller can be turned to full power for a short time just before starting the engine.

The Variable Temperature Controller cord is 25 ft long.  Temperature range at the top of the blue arc is 125-150 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: The Safe HeEt Controller (Part # 05-04423) states that the cord is 25' long total. What is the length from the plug (receptacle) to the control box?

The length from the plug to the box approximately 16 ft. The other end is approximately 9 ft.

Q: Where is the temperature sensor? Do you put the controller inside the cowling? Is this a heater or just a power cord that goes to a separate heater?

This is the power cord with controller only. It is to be used with one of the Safe-Heat engine heaters.

Q: Can it control two heaters/engines?

Yes, per the manufacturer it can run two heaters.
