(Click image for a larger view) | Featured: A 1936 Lockheed Electra 12A that was the 8th built at Lockheed's Burbank California factory. At the time, the 12A was said to be the fastest aircraft in the world. The special order cabin was fitted with six passenger seats, two crew seats and amenities that included a buffet and refrigerator. Powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-985 engines producing 450 hp each, it had a range of 700 miles with a specified top speed of 275 mph and a max cruise speed of 216 mph. After a complete restoration, it stood in for Amelia’s Earhart’s famous Electra 10E in the movie, Amelia, starring Hilary Swank and Richard Gere. |
